it’s official. O’Reilly’s an idiot.

Posted by: The Russian   in Entertainment, Technology

i don’t know if this has to do with him being old, stupid, or clearly oblivious about freedom of the press, but he clearly lives in his own reality on this one. he’s got someone who’s completely agreeing with him on the core issues but he loves the sound of his own voice so much that he can’t hear a fucking thing she’s saying because i suppose we should all live in papa bear’s world.

and no you moron, someone stealing $50 that your grandma sent you in the mail isn’t the same as stealing confidential documents from someone’s email that could potentially reveal a terrorist plot against the state or an individual. one has inherent value the other has intrinsic value. welcome to the internet. weak passwords get hacked. it’s not hard. what this kid did wasn’t even a fucking hack. he just WiKi’d Palin and guessed the password reset questions. that’s not hacking. any idiot could have done that. using an insecure system is about as safe as leaving your front door wide open and wondering why someone stole all your shit while you went away for the weekend.

to go off on a tangent for a second, i think this is also where a lot of people misunderstand something like pirating music and movies. you’re not stealing something that can never be sold and could be considered lost profit, you’re making a copy of something digital (and in most cases just getting to enjoy something you would have never purchased in the first place).

here’s a nice picture:

Joe Biden on Ellen

Posted by: The Russian   in Entertainment, Politics

Biden does a good job of supporting the democratic position on equal rights for gay couples and expands on proposed tax policy including benefits for small business.

contrast that to the demeanor and tone from when Ellen had McCain on the show…

i guess it’s ok to to leave your wife who just got into a bad car accident for an heiress that’s eighteen years your junior, but it’s completely immoral and unconscionable for gay couples to be as miserable as straight couples in the ever so holy state of matrimony.

Hayden’s letting herself go…

Posted by: The Russian   in Entertainment, Humor, Politics

one of the less funny celeb endorsement spoofs i’ve seen. i don’t know what it is, but it seems Hayden does a way better job @ being a mutant cheerleader with special powers than this attempt at political comedy. and is it me, or has she put on a couple since she was running around in that cheerleader outfit in season 2?

SNL’s really coming back with some force right now. i haven’t watched much of what’s going on over there for a while but it seems they’re hitting it out of the park with this stuff.

was Palin reading her answers?!?

Posted by: The Russian   in Entertainment, Politics

you tell me…

could she just be referencing her notes? with how well she did this time around compared to the previous slew of interviews with Couric, i have my doubts. at the same time, the day of the debate, CNN played a couple interviews from the gubernatorial race of Alaska where she was actually speaking coherently. was the McCain campaign purposely trying to set her bar SO low that even if she came on stage and didn’t drool on herself or was able to string something resembling sentences together that the ignorant masses would be pleased.

Palin did an interview on FOX (remember guys, they’re fair and balanced) talking about her past couple CBS interviews with Couric as well as the vice presidential debate.

ok. here’s some notes:
1. don’t talk about yourself in the 3rd person. McCain can do it, but that’s because he’s just that old and might not remember who he’s talking about.
2. you only get clobbered for answering a question when you don’t answer it or ramble on about something completely unrelated to what was asked.
3. the interviewer is asking you calculated questions intended to elicit a response the people want to know the answer to. it’s not your time to rant about what YOU want to talk about.
4. Couric didn’t not ask you what a VP stands for or is supposed to do, and even if she did, you still don’t know. please see your own VP debate answer on the topic.
5. a personal interview with someone like Couric is intended to let the public get to know who you are, not your time to present your campaigns views on your opponent.
6. your frustration is not due to you being from “outside the Washington elite” it’s because you’re from a small fucking town in the middle of nowhere and don’t understand how the normal world functions. that’s called being disconnected. and while you’re at it, can you maybe now mention some publication you read? (shit. she answers this later, but with the most generic ones.)
7. if you want to talk to Americans and let them know what you stand for, put a video up on youtube. you know. that series of tubes. when you’re interviewed, there’s kind of a format that’s not chosen by you. Obama’s got one. there’s a link for ya so you can see how it works. *thumbs up*
8. it’s not all that much of a stretch to believe that you might be out of touch with the rest of the united states (let alone rest of the world) world living in Wasilla (population ~6k) and only receiving your passport a year ago.

and can she PLEASE stop calling herself an energy expert? you went to something like 6 colleges before you got your degree in journalism. you’re not a nuclear physicist from Cal Tech. tone it the fuck down. sure there’s a lot of natural gas and oil resources in your state and i’m sure you’ve absorbed some of it through osmosis from legislature, lobbyists, and your husband (who by the fucking way works for British Petrolium and we’re supposed to believe you’re going to be for renewable energy? right).
